Copter tragedy: King, Selangor Ruler express condolences to victims and their families


His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has expressed his deepest condolences to the families of Lumut helicopter crash victims.

"Me and Raja Zarith feel deeply saddened by the loss of the nation’s heroes in this tragedy.

"Al-Fatihah and condolences to those who have left us forever. May they be placed among the believers and also the martyrs," said Sultan Ibrahim in his facebook post on Tuesday (April 23).

Moreover, His Majesty urged for a full investigation by the armed forces.

"I also want the Malaysian Armed Forces to conduct a thorough investigation to obtain full information about this incident," he said.

Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah conveyed his deepest condolences over the tragic demise of the 10 Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) crew members in an air mishap on Tuesday (April 23).

Sultan Sharafuddin, who is the RMN Captain-In-Chief, said he was shocked to hear about the two helicopters crashing, at the Lumut naval base in Perak, during a rehearsal for the upcoming 90th RMN Day Parade.

“I have been made to understand that all the 10 crew members, who were RMN personnel died in the incident.

“As the RMN Captain-In-Chief, I wish to convey my intense sadness and sorrow following the heartbreaking tragedy that happened in the month of Syawal and during the RMN’s 90th anniversary,’’ said Sultan Sharafuddin.

(The month of Syawal is the month whereby Hari Raya Aidilfitri is celebrated for the whole month.).

“I also wish to convey my condolences to the family members of the RMN personnel who perished and hope that they will persevere in the face of the tragedy,’’ said the Ruler.

Sultan Sharafuddin also added that he greatly valued the service, dedication and sacrifices of the RMN personnel who had perished while on duty.

His Highness also prayed that their souls will be blessed by Allah and will rest in peace.

“It is indeed a great loss to the RMN and the nation,’’ said Sultan Sharafuddin.

Also expressing condolences for the families were the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.

"My condolences to the next of kin and family members of those who died. May the family members persevere with this loss in this trying time," according to a post on the official social media page of the Pahang Royal House Facebook site.
